I-95 is the main highway that runs through Fort Lauderdale. It runs up the eastern U.S. and is used by tourists who are on vacation or locals going to work.
The A1A and US-1 are scenic options for sightseeing or day-today travel. The A1A is known for its stunning ocean views. The Strip runs parallel to the oceanside Highway A1A and is lined by oceanside Fort Lauderdale condos as well as outdoor bars and restaurants.
Las Olas Boulevard, which runs east to west through Fort Lauderdale, is the longest. The road runs from SW 1st Avenue, in the city’s Central Business District, to the A1A on Fort Lauderdale Beach. This road runs through several residential areas, including Seven Isles, and Hendricks. It crosses the Intracoastal Waterway, and ends at The Shops at Las Olas as it reaches the Atlantic Ocean. This stretch of road is home to many shops, art galleries and restaurants.

What to Expect during Rush Hour
Broward County Transit is able to serve Fort Lauderdale but most commute by car. Traffic can get very heavy during rush hour, especially between 6:00 am and 10:00 am and 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm on weekdays.
Commuting times can vary widely and are an important factor in buying a house. A recent survey found that commute times of between 10 and 15 minutes were nearly equal to those who commute for 30 to 35 minutes.
Avoid I-95, I-595 and the Florida Turnpike during rush hour if you can. These are the busiest. Travelers who have more experience will be able to use the bigger streets. The A1A and US-1 are two roads that run north-south and may be better than I-95 in rush hour.
